INTELLIGENT TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
ABOUT
The main aim of this website is to present our senior design project under the title of " Intelligent traffic management system"
PROBLEM DEFINITION
Cars are the most preferred mode of transportation; people end up wasting lots of time which can reach 109 hours per year on roads, and wasting a lot of money on fuel and collisions because of heavy traffic.
OUR VISION
Building an intelligent traffic management system by constructing and developing a small-scaled smart city, with a smart traffic light in the intersection, that can communicate with the robots (the vehicles) in a way the cars will never stop the intersection.
OUR TECHNOLOGY
Our technology provides an inexpensive, secure and easily reproducible environment to test various algorithms.
PROJECT FEATURES
Lane Following
Following the lane by detecting the lane and determining their position and orientation (POS) on the lane
Traffic Signs & Obstacles
Detection
Navigating through intersections and detecting traffic signs and obstacles
V2V & V2I Communication
Coordinating with other robots to avoid any collision and maintaining a specific distance with other robots in traffic, and crossing the intersection by adjusting the speed of the vehicle without any stop
PROJECT ACHIEVEMENTS
Simulating the proposed algorithm (first-in-first-out speed controlling traffic management system) , which is used to prevent cars from full stoping at the intersection.
Experiencing the image processing techniques for color detection used in lane following, vehicle detection and AprilTag detection
Learning ROS (Robot Operating System) for programming robot
Learning python programming language
Mastering Docker containers and building Docker images using DockerFile
